Description

The cultural and intellectual pillars of a nation are built upon the firm and immutable virtuous ethical traits which the individuals of a society demonstrate and manifest through the dally interaction and contact that they have with one another.

It is on account of this fact that within the verses of the Noble Qur’än and the Ahädith of the Prophet and the Ahlul Bait (blessings of Allah be upon all of them), we see that a great deal of emphasis has been placed on the preservation and dissemination of these cherished moral qualities within a society.

The verses of Sarah al-Hujurät elucidate upon various ethical virtues and respected human values such as: self-discipline, respect for others, human dignity, brotherhood, peace and harmony, ethical consciousness and self sacrifice.

In addition, this Sarah of the Quran also expounds on the negative ethical traits which all human beings must strive to keep away from, for example: pessimism, picking faults and spying on others, backbiting, racial prejudice, discrimination and other such harmful behaviours which threaten to destroy the moral fabric of society.

The present work is a commentary of Sarah al-Hujurät in which the valued ethical traits have been elucidated upon which when put into practical application would yield the ideal society for people of all faiths and religions.
