Kitab Maqtal al‑Husayn is a historical narrative of the Battle of Karbala and the martyrdom of Imam al‑Husayn (ʿa), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (s). Originally compiled by the early historian Abu Mikhnaf al‑Azdi based on eyewitness reports, this work preserves detailed accounts of the events leading to Ashura, the heroic resistance of Imam al‑Husayn and his companions, and their sacrifice for justice in Islamic history. It remains a central source for Karbala studies.
